Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty intervention (eyelid surgery) in Tunisia
Eyelid surgery is indicated when there is excess skin and muscle in the eyelids and/or pockets of fat (fatty hernias) that make the eyes look heavy.
Blepharoplasty can involve the upper, lower or all four eyelids.
The goal of blepharoplasty is to make the look look less heavy and tired, while preserving its natural expression.
Blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery.
This is the key intervention for rejuvenating the look.
Anesthesia : general
Duration of the intervention : 1h to 2h
Recovery: 7 to 15 days.
Pre-operative assessment: blood test, lung X-ray for smokers and an electrocardiogram for people over 45 years old.
The scars
Lower eyelid blepharoplasty scars, in the case of a fatty pocket without excess skin, blepharoplasty of the lower eyelids leaves no visible scar. Indeed, the ablation of fat pockets is done through the conjunctiva. We are talking about conjunctival blepharoplasty. No mark is therefore made on the skin.
On the other hand, if there is an excess of skin, the blepharoplasty of the lower eyelids is accompanied by scars at the level of the eyelashes, and hidden on the sides in an oblique wrinkle (wrinkle of crow's feet). The scars of the upper blepharoplasty are hidden in the palpebral fold located in the middle of the upper eyelid, and extend on the sides towards the eyebrow while remaining hidden in an oblique wrinkle (wrinkle of crow's feet).
What are the consequences after blepharoplasty?
The pain of blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is moderate and relieved, when it exists, by simple analgesics.
The postoperative course can be painful for the first few days.
Ice compresses are placed for a few hours, allowing the development of eyelid edema to be limited.
An analgesic treatment will be prescribed for a few days.
The first dressings are removed after 24 hours.
These parameters vary from patient to patient. The final result of blepharoplasty is assessed between 3 and 6 months.
Make-up is allowed after one week.
The return to work can be done 1 week after the intervention, knowing that the frequent bruises fade between 7 and 15 days.
Edema (swelling) is common and can last from a few days to sometimes several weeks.
Blepharoplasty result imperfections.
Imperfections may result from unusual fabric reactions. It is possible that part of the alterations persist, or have an eye that is too hollow, or a retraction of the lower eyelid downwards. Imperfections can be corrected from the 6th month after the first intervention. It can sometimes appear small cysts along the scar.
